1. Great platform bed

   We ordered on-line, without ever seeing the product. We wanted some elegance and real wood, even if not from north America. The Japanese engineering and no need for major tools was very impressive. Very sturdy, not squeaky. It is a purchase that I very much enjoy, even though I could have gotten something less expensive.

2. Very well-made tatami platform bed

   The actual bed has a beautiful maple color and smooth finish. The design is very simple which I adore. Although I could of used a little help, I didn't have trouble assembling this bed by myself. The tatami mats and slats (nothing like the ikea pine slats) were quite heavy; this bed was built to last. I especially love the puzzle design of the legs and the use of minimal screws to hold everything in place. Definitely recommend the tall tatami platform. I love the height when used with a three inch latex topper. Only thing I wish to change was the trim of the tatami mats. I wish the trims came in gold or green instead of black. Also, the color easily rubbed off. Other than that, I am extremely satisfied with this bed.

3. Very solid, well made platform bed

   I was looking for an even foundation for a futon mattress after using it with a sofa-bed frame that did not provide a completely even base when opened for a bed. I bought the queen-sized, natural finish, tall tatami platform bed, with the mats. It is a very solid piece of furniture, made of dense, heavy wood. Although the wood was heavy, the bed was easy to assemble in place piece by piece. It fits together very neatly with tongue and groove joints at the corner legs. The side rails slip into slots in the legs and are held in place by their weight. Bolts are only needed for the center-support bar and legs.
   I put felt pads and bottom of the legs before assembly so I could adjust the position of the bed by pushing it on my wood floors after assembly. (The bed cannot be lifted easily after assembly: it is held together by gravity and lifting a rail pulls it out of the joint with the leg.)
   The tatami mats form a surface flush with the rail edging which extends a bit beyond the mattress size.
   
   Why only 4 stars:
   1. It is very well made, but simply made of square-cut pieces. I would prefer to have smoothing and rounding on the edges, especially the square corners that stick-out beyond the mattress.
   2. The legs are massive: 4 inch square. Maybe that's necessary for the slot joints holding the rails, but they limit how I can position the bed relative to phone jacks and electric outlets.

4. Looks great. Easy to assemble

   Looks like a huge Jenga game. Good precision on the parts. Everything slots together easily, but with little to no extra play. It would be nice if the center support beam didn't require extra legs to support it, but you don't notice them at all once it's assembled. Feels sturdy. I love the headboard too; simple and elegant. Would definitely buy it again.

   This platform bed in King is beautiful and really neat how it goes together like a wood puzzle. Everything went together perfectly and we put two XL Twin Sealy Posturepedic mattresses to make a split king -- they fit perfectly. The wood and its satiny silky finish is wonderful and much more beautiful than the pictures. There are no rough edges. Everything was packaged very well and arrived in Indiana within 6 days of when we ordered. So completely satisfied!

   This was everything I hoped it would be. Sturdy, easy to assemble, great aesthetics. Works really well with the queen sized futon mattress we already had. I recommend this product

   Need 2 people to put it together, because several places need to be aligned at the same time. Easy to assemble.

   I ordered/received the tall platform bed in the natural finish... with drawers, headboard and night tables. They are all beautiful. The drawers were more spacious than I anticipated. And... I sleep SO well (mats w/ futon also). The customer service was as wonderful as the products!
