1. Simple Elegance

   This bed is beautiful! Mine arrived while my husband was out of town and I was able to put it together by myself. One small dowel plug was missing from my parts, but I was able to find a replacement easily. This is the only thing keeping my review from being 5 stars. We really do love our new bed and the clean lines it provides our bedroom.

   I spent quite a bit of time scouring the internet for a source of a Japanese style tatami bed to use with our new traditional Japanese futon. We took a gamble with this site, and I'm glad we did! We ordered the Yamaguchi platform bed with tatami, Magari headboard, and one side table. It took about a month to receive everything, with about a week delay due to bad weather.
   
   The bed frame arrived in 6 boxes. The mats were definitely the heaviest, but easy to transport with two people. It's worth mentioning that the shipping fee did not cover the unloading equipment from the truck, so the driver had to hand each package down to us and we carried them into our house.
   
   I appreciate that the slats are stained to match the bed frame! The bed feels very sturdy and high quality.
   
   The finished product looks awesome, my husband and I love it! The tatami smell is great, you can tell it was newly made. Makes me nostalgic of my family's old house in Japan. We even had a coffee/tea time with my parents, sitting on the bed with the futon folded up.

   We took this decision to order online after a lot of deliberation. Our first impression is that I am glad we ordered this over a traditional bed since it makes the small room look elegant.

4. Can’t believe what you read...

   ...but the Yamaguchi King Size bed frame reviews are TRUE! When the King (Honey Oak) bed frame arrived there were FOUR boxes on a pallet.
   Box 1) Headboard -70 lbs, Box 2) Head, foot, side and center rails - 60lbs,
   Box 3) slats - 60 lbs, Box 4) legs and hardware - 30 lbs. Each box was expertly packed. There was not a scratch or blemish on any of the surfaces. The bed frame is solid wood and the pieces fit together like a puzzle. No screws except for the middle beam on the KING frame. If you order the headboard, you’ll have a extra head/foot rail. Truly a beautiful piece of furniture. Thank you Tatami Room and Jason!

5. Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship, superb quality!

   The photos on the site do not do justice to this gorgeous bed! I received my king sized Yamaguchi platform with tatami mats and paired it with a queen size futon, dressed it up in purple futon cover & pillow shams to create an amazing focal point in my bedroom. The bed went together very quickly with only a few screws. The pieces fit together precisely. This is a very heavy, sturdy piece of furniture that I'm sure will last & last.

6. Fabulous Platform Frame

   I searched for a few months on platform frames knowing I did not want a headboard and kept coming back to the Yamiguchi platform at Tatami. I am so impressed with how this bed is constructed and goes together like a puzzle. Everything about it is first class and beyond. Extremely well made! This platform bed frame can hold 900 lbs! My new organic mattress and pillow top fits perfectly! I am beyond happy I made this purchase! For the quality of this platform I got a bargain....no tax and no shipping costs and came very well packaged in 3 boxes. Thank you Tatami for answering my questions before my purchase! I would recommend this frame to anyone!

7. Improved Quality Control Needed

   When my Platform bed arrived at my home, I found a slight crack within the side rail wood , that in time will brake thru the rail. I also found some finish blemishes that revealed the unfinished wood below.
   
   Aside from the previous two mentioned above issues product appears to be superior.

   Very happy with my purchase. The frame is very strong "solid" wood, actually finger jointed pieces. The frame is 100 times better than anything around the same cost in any big box store. This thing stays planted wherever you put it. There haven't been any squeaks sound of stress or movement of any kind from the frame. The picture makes it look like there is only one leg for the middle support, but we actually had 2, evenly spaced.
   
   I was under the impression there wouldn't be any bolts or screws, but there are less than 10, to hold together the center support and the feet for that support.
   
   One other thing I didn't realize is the ledge that protrudes around the exterior seems pretty large. I know this is the style of the bed and won't dock any points for it, but its something that needs to be considered. I've hit my shin of it a couple times so far as I haven't been accustomed to it yet.
   
   I would like it if they would take some of the sharpness off the feet as they hurt like hell when toes are subbed.
   Also, the bag my screws and tool came it was opened and all the screws were scattered throughout the box. Luckily there wasn't any damage to the beautiful frame.
   Lastly, the hex tool they sent to tighten the screws didn't actually fit the head of the screw. Make sure you have a hex tool kit in case you run into the same problem.

   This bed is fantastic. Purchase to be used with the new very popular "bed in a box" memory foam mattresses. I bought the bed with the headboard. It is a very nice looking. It is solid wood and an absolute bargain for the quality of this product
