Product Description
The Tall Wakayama platform bed frame includes interlocking Japanese joinery assembly while also allowing for mattress to frame correspondence. A space saver for small bedrooms, the Tall Wakayama platform bed frame is built from solid hardwood (Parwood, also know as the rubber tree wood). The bed frame consists of pyramid-shaped inset legs, two center support legs, and center support with wooden slats less than two inches apart with a weight capacity of 1600 lbs. This Japanese architectural influenced bed frame is versatile as the headboard can adjust to accommodate a 10 or 13 inch mattress. *Headboards are sold separately.

Beautiful bed, amazing customer service

Great construction and easy to assemble. This bed is sturdy and will travel well.
Fast shipping- from California to New England in less than a week. The team at tatamiroom.com was extremely helpful when I ran into a shipping issue with FedEx.
This is my 2nd bed with tatamiroom.com and I cannot recommend them enough.

LOVE this BED! What a quality piece of furniture...NOBODY builds them like Tatami....and Jason was SO NICE when i Phone ordered...got my bed out that day, arrived within 5 days of ordering!...5 HEAVY boxes, packed so well ....if these had fallen off the truck, no damage could possibly incur!!...took me 1.5 hours to set up without any help...the Headboard was the hardest part, as it is SOLID wood and heavy....this is my second Platform bed from Tatami....the other being an 8 year old Yamaguchi...still like new and beautiful...hands down these are the BEST Platform beds in an affordable price range....thank you Tatami Room!!!

Sturdy and gorgeous bed frame

This is an outstanding bed frame! The finish is super beautiful and smooth. The frame itself is very sturdy and has the weight capacity of 1,600 lbs. The delivery was fast and hassle free. My husband and I built the bed together; I think it would be more difficult if I did it alone. My husband and I love this frame so much. Thank you Tatami!

Awesome bed for a big guy

I'm a big guy so I had to look for a bed that was sturdy. This meets that spec perfectly. It came in 5 boxes all packed very well though it did get a few dings on one piece. The bed is wonderful and easy to put together. It doesn't shift or creek. Highly recommended.

This is our second bed purchased from Tatamiroom and we liked both beds. This bed is a very solid and well built bed. Very easy to assemble for a clean-minimalist look. The finish is top notch. I highly recommend platform beds sold here because they delivere what they promise. Ordered the bed, from CA, and recieved it 7 days later in New England as promised. In fact it was delivered 1 day earlier than estmated.

We are all a bit hesitant to order items like this online, but after reading the reviews here my wife and we decided to give it a go.
First of all, our bed was shipped promptly. And when we unpackaged the five boxes we quickly realized that this was a great purchase. The quality is way above and beyond anything I’ve seen at even the high end furniture stores. The looks, build quality, and ease of assembly was top notch. It’s clear that the folks at Tatamiroom care about putting out amazing products, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for the highest quality furniture that can be found anywhere.

Great platform bed and for as great as it looks in the photos it looks even better once you build it. Quick and easy assembly. Very solid bed and most definitely see it last for years and years to come. Very quick delivery especially considering size and weight. The staff was very nice and will go above and beyond for their customers. Will be buying more furniture from them.

The service from tatamiroom.com was excellent, what with speedy delivery of the well-packaged items via Fedex.
As for the bed frame itself, including the headboard, it's very attractive and has that distinctive zen-style look. Assembly is a breeze with the help of the included IKEA-like installation instruction sheet. No drilling and no nails but uses the provided hex screws and key.
This item sustains damage quite easily when bumped, however light, onto sharp solid surface. I wasn't expecting that for a supposedly solid wood. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

I was looking for a bed frame that met very specific requirements: a small footprint (no bigger than the size of the mattress); at least 9 inches of clearance under the bed for storage; slats no farther than two inches apart; a center support beam with center support legs; solidly made (all hardwood and held together by more than a bunch of nails and a few brackets); and, of course, beautiful.
This bed is perfect - it exceeded my expectations. It arrived in 4 excessively well packaged boxes and the shipping was both inexpensive and fast (even to the opposite side of the country). Ideally, it's a two-person job to put it together. I did it myself (I'm 5'2" and 100 pounds) so help isn't STRICTLY necessary, but it would be far easier if you have another person on hand - especially since this is a serious piece of furniture. Even the slats are heavy (this is a good thing - no corners were cut in crafting this bed).
Other reviewers described the (easy) puzzle-like process of putting it together - each piece fit perfectly together. No nails required! - only 4 screws (one each to attach the center support legs to the center support beam and 2 screws to attach the center support beam to the bed frame), and 4 dowels to hold the slats in place. Everything you need to put it together, comes with the bed.
And the legs are inset a bit - a particularly nice detail if you are space challenged - you'd have to really TRY to stub your toes (if you are into that) when walking around the bed, even in a tight space.
This is an absolutely gorgeous, absurdly solid, piece of furniture. EVEN THE ALLEN WRENCH WAS PRETTY.
