The Yamaguchi Platform Bed Frame in Natural Finish - This Japanese style platform bed is constructed with interlocking frames that requires no brackets or screws for easy assembly. The platform bed frame is made of 100% solid hardwood (Parawood-environmentally friendly wood) in satin finish. Includes 18 pairs of solid hardwood slats (2" spacing) to support any standard queen or king size mattress.
*Complete platform bed set comes with two Tatami mats to create a serenity space for meditation or sitting area, Japanese futon mattress may be added for sleeping that provide excellent back support and comfort (sold separately).

Solid frame and bed

This bed well built and very sturdy. The slats alone almost weigh more than any bed I've owned.The bed arrived in 4 boxes and everything was well wrapped and secure. It took more time to get the bed out of the boxes than setting the bed up. It holds up to all bedroom activity as well. I was shocked by the price but very happy that I bit the bullet and bought the bed. If you are looking to buy a bed for life, look no further.

I've been using this bed for a week now, with the Magari headboard, and it really is rock-solid and a very nice looking piece of furniture. As other reviewers have mentioned, unpackaging the parts took much, much longer than assembling the bed! Maneuvering the packages (5 total for my order) and assembling the bed was a bit awkward for one person but certainly doable. I really appreciate that even the central support bar and legs are made of solid, thick wood.

I love the way the bed fit together with good old fashioned notches in the wood for the major weight-bearing parts. There were two metal threaded screws for the middle support bar. The bed is rock solid, the quality of the craftsmanship is astounding. Very worth it.

Solid and Attractive

Definitely worth the wait! I was looking for a bed to put in my loft for when we have spare guests, but I may just use it for my own nap time. The frame and headboard are beautiful and so very solid. The low frame is a great fit for our loft ceilings.
Assembly was fairly easy for my husband and I and it didn't take long at all. I think the most difficult part was unwrapping everything. Man was everything packed WELL. No fear of damages in shipping.
My ONE complaint is the headboard - I wish you could order a "headboard frame" as opposed to the regular frame and headboard separately. The headboard replaces the end frame piece, rendering that piece useless and a "throwaway". The wood is so beautiful and sturdy it seems such a waste to just throw it away. It would be nice to be able to order a headboard/frame package with no redundant pieces.

I'm very happy with this bed frame! I have a very thick mattress, and was looking for something low that would keep the bed at an easy-sitting-height for my short self. It's perfect. The bed frame arrived about 6 weeks after ordering (as was mentioned several times during checkout -- to expect a 6-8 week delay) in 4 boxes. The boxes were manageable for a short distance to get them inside, and I ended up opening the boxes downstairs and carrying single pieces upstairs by myself. It took me longer to unbox the parts than it did to put the frame together. (I was a little distracted that the center bar and feet seemed too short, but I realized the bar was bowed upward to help support the bed.) The hardest part was getting my big mattress on the bed frame! The frame is very sturdy, and doesn't shift or make noise -- I'm very pleased!

We were very excited to receive our bed and headboard and we were not disappointed. Great style , great quality and easy to assemble. It took longer to unpack the bed than it took to assemble. The only problem we ran into was installing the center support as it was to long with the dowels to get it into both the headboard and the bottom board . we pulled the headboard partly out so we could angle the pegs into both. the slats were of such great quality that we were floored. C customer service was great answering questions and getting our bed to us on time.

So happy with the bed. Very sturdy and does not make noise. Very nice and simple design. Love the japanese wood joint construct, and very easy to assemble. Got the natural wood tone, and the finish is beautiful. Even the slats are solid and nicer than IKEA slats. There was a hiccup during shipment, my order was shipped to the east coast (I'm in CA), and I contacted customer service rep who handled the case professionally and was willing to ship me a replacement so that I didn't have to wait much longer for my bed. Really appreciated it.

Nice-looking tatami frame with solid frame and slats

We got the natural tone and like it. We had a good quality mattress already and put it on this bed frame and it is more comfortable now because of the excellent support provided by this tatami bed. The bed is easy to assemble--I did it in an hour and a half and wasn't hurrying (I'm average health, male in my sixties). Some of the boxes are heavy but I opened the boxes where delivered and carried the big pieces alone so I didn't have to move any heavy boxes. We like the look and feel of this bed.

After living in Asia for the last year, I was looking for a low bed, and this one is fantastic. Almost no hardware (only the center slat support has a bolt and nut at either end) and the frame itself just slips together. We have a memory foam mattress with no box spring, instead of the tatami mats, which works very well. The bed is silent, even with -ahem- vigorous activity, and does not rock around or slap the headboard on the wall. In fact, the joinery is tight enough that the bed does not move or rock at all once all of the pieces are together. Highly recommend!
