Product Description
3x6 Tatami Mat Standard size(35½"x71") authentic Tatami mats are made from high quality materials such as rush grass surface, stitching yarn, cotton border, and protective backing are all imported from Japan . Each mat is skillfully crafted in Taiwan to meet the Japan Industry Standard (JIS-5901). With proper care, our Tatami last up to 20 years.
Rush Grass Surface: First grade quality long grass dyed with natural Japanese clay to enhance even color tone(Golden-Yellow as it ages). The most vital steps of making Tatami; Rush grass covering is tightly woven and stitched in precise tension to prevent from warping or damaging.
Rice straw core: Rice straw core are naturally treated under kiln dry in 90 degree celcius required by the Japan Agriculture Standard(JAS) and USDA. After proper treatment, layers of rice straw are accurately measured and compressed to two inches. Multiple lines of yarns are tightly stitched together to provide durability and level.

So beautiful

I have been wanting these mats for months now, and spent so much time trying to find something a bit cheaper that I would like. I am so glad that I ultimately chose these mats and the frame - 4 full and 1 half mat in a 9x9 natural finish frame. They are stunning in my living room, where I practice yoga and meditation daily in front of the windows. I just have to figure out how to keep my dog off of them now! He loves them too. Also, I called customer service after placing my order and they called me back, answering all of my questions very thoroughly and assuring me of my decision. Thank you, Tatami Room!

I purchased three mats and a 3-piece floor frame to create a tatami space in my bedroom. The mats themselves are very well-made. The tatami omote is tightly woven with no loose igusa. The length is exactly twice the width so they lay out perfectly, and fit exactly into the floor frame with no gaps. Once the frame is installed and the mats are put in place, they don't move at all. 100% worth the price paid, and would recommend to anyone looking to create a tatami space of their own.

It has been a dream of mine for 50 years to have a Japanese room with real tatami mats where I could display all my Japanese treasures. This week that dream came true. The mats are absolutely beautiful.

I am by many definitions a skeptic.
These were shipped to the east coast. They look gorgeous and I have never slept better/ had a better work flow in my life. The store manager was awesome. Helped me every step of the way and even picked the perfect shikibuton for me. My wife loved this too.

I would simply like to say how pleased I have been with my purchases from tatamiroom.
